"Don't Leave Me"

The title of the piece, “Don’t Leave Me,” came from a moment in rehearsal. Dancers often re-shape and move the dozens of two-foot-square cubes that make up the set. Sometimes they are stacked on top of each other, up to three high. These freely-stacked structures are unstable when not braced by dancers holding tightly below. Dancer Bonnie Simoa had climbed on top of three cubes. She suddenly realized the precariousness of her position and blurted out “don’t leave me.” The group thought this was a perfect title, conveying the DanceAbility method belief that as a society, we should all proceed together without leaving each other behind.
